Last night, I went out with my friend, Álvaro, to get some tacos at a Mexican restaurant. We really didn't have anything else planned. We ended up walking around Toledo, teaching each other new things about the Catholic church in the 16th century and Toledan Legends, until one o'clock in the morning. I had spent the day walking in the rain with my friends to the Monastery of San Juan de los Reyes and the Synagogue Santa Maria Blanca, so I was surprised that I wasn't tired and wanting to sleep at eleven. When I said to Álvaro that I am somehow not tired and I usually need to sleep after a lot of time around people and doing things, he said, "Well, I'm glad you think I'm not boring," to which I replied, "Of course you're not boring!"
I met Álvaro through an exchange program from the foundation. He's from a town called Bargas next to Toledo and he is not boring. In fact, he's pretty awesome. He loves to play guitar and cook with his family. He loves to look at the stars at night and he's really good at taking pictures of them too. He speaks English well and he is getting better at it.
I'm so thankful for Álvaro and all the fun times we've had! We've learned so much from each other, and not only new vocabulary in Spanish and English. We've created a list of things we need to do together before I leave and I can't wait until we mark them off as "done"!
